Silly Robot Software

About

Hi! My name is Martin. I’m an independent developer living in Elmhurst, Illinois, and I make small, focused apps that scratch real itches — usually ones I’ve had myself.

Silly Robot Software is a one-person show. That means every pixel, every bug fix, and every late-night “why does this crash on iPhone 12 only” moment is all me. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Apps

Photo Zen icon

Photo Zen 2024 · iPhone

Photo Zen was my first app, and it came from a pretty simple observation: I had years of photos sitting on my phone that I never looked at. The idea was to group photos by calendar day and surface them as a home screen widget — so every day you get a little time capsule from however many years ago. It’s become one of my favourite things to open in the morning. If a photo makes you smile, great. If it makes you want to delete 47 blurry shots of a parking garage, also great.

Lantern icon

Lantern 2025 · Mac

Lantern is probably the silliest thing I’ve ever shipped, and I mean that as a compliment. It turns your Mac’s screen into a glowing, flickering jack-o’-lantern for Halloween. That’s it. That’s the app. You can pick from different pumpkin faces, choose between a full-screen mode or a subtle overlay, and enjoy the kind of deeply unnecessary seasonal joy that makes life better. It’s a Mac App Store exclusive.

Driving Log icon

Driving Log 2026 · iPhone

Driving Log came out of a very specific kind of parental paperwork anxiety. When a teenager gets their learner’s permit, most states require them to log a set number of supervised driving hours before they can test for a full licence — split between daytime, nighttime, and sometimes inclement weather. Tracking all of that on a paper form is a nightmare. Driving Log handles it cleanly: it knows your state’s specific requirements, tracks every session, shows your progress at a glance, and exports a tidy PDF when you’re done. No more scrambling to find the logbook the morning of the driving test.

Together icon

Together 2026 · iPhone

Together is a relationship milestone tracker for couples who want more than a simple day counter. It gives you a beautiful timeline of the moments that matter — your first date, your first trip together, your engagement, your wedding, the random Tuesday that became an inside joke — all in one place. You can see exactly how long you’ve been together, celebrate anniversaries, and create shareable content from your memories. It’s warm, it’s personal, and it’s the kind of app that makes your phone actually feel meaningful.

Loom Coming Soon

Something’s cooking. I’m not ready to talk about it yet, but I’m excited about it — and I think you will be too. Stay tuned.

Say Hello

If you enjoy any of the apps, the best thing you can do is leave a review in the App Store — it genuinely makes a huge difference for a solo developer. If something’s broken or you just want to chat, I’m pretty easy to find.

You can find me on Mastodon at @mbarron@mas.to, or just use the contact form below — I read and try to respond to everything.
